Care Resource announces new urology home care program

EAST PROVIDENCE – Care Resource has introduced a new urology home care program focused on reducing health care costs by avoiding hospital admissions and emergency room visits for patients with chronic urinary tract infections, urosepsis and dehydration, according to a recent company release. The company manages patients at home requiring IV medications, clean intermittent catheters and skilled nursing.

“Every day, patients are being referred to Care Resource by physicians, hospital case managers and payers because of our uniquely integrated post-acute business model. In the past, if a urologist wanted to start a patient on IV meds to treat an infection, that patient was sent to the emergency room for a PICC line, first-dose IV medication and referral to home care,” CEO Bernard F. Lambrese said in a statement. “We provide all those services for a fraction of the cost … Unlike national mail order catheter companies, we will send a nurse to the patient’s home for teaching, training and reassurance.”

The statement notes that Care Resource is the only locally owned home infusion provider in southern New England, and is licensed as a Medicare-certified home health agency in East Providence and Dartmouth. An accountable care resource for physicians, hospitals and payers managing risk contracts, the company focuses on improving clinical outcomes for patients at reduced costs to the payer.
