PROVIDENCE – Care Thread is one of five winners of the fourth annual Pitch Fest competition hosted on Dec. 8 by TechSandBox, a science- and technology-based startup incubator based in Hopkinton, Mass.

At the final round of the competition on Dec. 8, 14 finalists competed for $5,000 in prize money awarded in four categories: Judges’ Choice, chosen by a panel of professional investors; Judges’ Choice in the clean technology category, sponsored by MassCEC; Student Choice, chosen by a panel of higher education affiliates and sponsored by the Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Foisi School of Business; and Audience Choice, selected by the audience through ballots.

Care Thread won the Audience Choice award, and Judges Choice honors were awarded to Massachusetts-based iHope Network and Battery Resources. Winning pitches in the Student Choice category were DropZoneForVets and AMProtection.

“The surprise of the night is that the Student Judges couldn’t decide and ended up with a tie between two student finalists,” Barb Finer, CEO of TechSandBox, said. The award money for the student category was split.
