Career day targets marine industry

NEWPORT – The eighth annual Marine Industry & Career Day, sponsored by the Rhode Island Marine Trades Association and International Yacht Restoration School, a marine trades and technology school, will be held Saturday, March 23.
The event is meant to bring regional employers in contact with individuals interested in careers in the marine and composites industry.
The career day is held at IYRS’s Newport campus on Thames Street. Attendees also can learn about training opportunities, career building, technology, and working in the marine industry.
“The data we are seeing is painting a positive picture – both for the marine trades and for those who are interested in working in this important Rhode Island industry,” said Wendy Mackie, CEO of the Rhode Island Marine Trades Association, in a statement. “Career Day is a valuable, once-a-year opportunity for individuals who are interested in networking with employers, learning more about business, and building a career.”
Presentations will be given on topics including the dos and don’ts of a job search and emerging technologies within the marine industry.
