PROVIDENCE – Five assisted living and Alzheimer’s care communities in Rhode Island have been recognized through the “Caring Stars” program for excellence based on online reviews on Caring.com, a senior care website.
Greenwich Farms at Warwick and West Bay Retirement Living in Warwick were recognized, as well as Pocasset Bay Retirement Living in Johnston and The Village at Waterman Lake in the Greenville section of Smithfield. The Elms in Westerly also was recognized.
A total of 805 assisted living and Alzheimer’s care communities across the country were named “Caring Stars of 2015.”
The annual Caring Stars list launched in January 2012, helping family caregivers and older adults narrow senior living options “to the best of the best, and quickly find the right assisted living or Alzheimer’s care community for aging parents and other loved ones,” according to information provided about the awards.
“The Caring Stars award helps signal to the public which communities are successfully delivering on their mission of serving older adults very well, making a positive impact with high-quality care, and reinforcing among their employees the special difference they make in residents’ lives,” Caring.com CEO Andy Cohen said in a statement. “We congratulate every Caring Star for earning this recognition, and thank the families who shared their feedback in reviews on Caring.com.”
To be considered for Caring Stars 2015, the community had to: receive at least three new consumer reviews in the last year (including at least one 5-star review); possess a high overall average rating across all reviews on their listing to demonstrate excellence consistency; and have no unresolved negative reviews, to demonstrate responsiveness to critical feedback online.
