Central Falls Fire Department was the recipient of a fire prevention grant from FM Global earlier this year.
FM Global, a commercial property insurer, presented the award to Fire Department Chief Robert Bradley and Mayor James Diossa at Central Falls City Hall on Dec. 17. The $2,957 grant will go toward assisting with pre-fire planning to efficiently collect and track data related to local community buildings, according to a city press release.
“We are very appreciative to FM Global for the commitment they have made to the Central Falls Fire Department. This grant will allow the Fire Department to take a proactive approach to fire and arson prevention and make the community of Central Falls safer for residents,” said Diossa and Bradley in a joint statement.
Fire is a leading cause of property damage worldwide and in the last 35 years, FM Global, has contributed millions of dollars in fire prevention grants to organizations around the globe, according to the release.
“At FM Global, we strongly believe the majority of property damage is preventable, not inevitable,” said Michael Spaziani, manager of the fire prevention grant program. “Far too often, inadequate budgets prevent those organizations working to prevent fire from being as proactive as they would like to be. With additional financial support, grant recipients are actively helping to improve property risk in the communities they serve.”
