WAKEFIELD – ChartWise Medical Systems Inc. has teamed up with Concord, Ohio-based Dolbey Systems to make its ChartWise 2.0 computer-assisted clinical documentation software compatible with Dolbey’s Fusion computer-assisted coding application, streamlining the documentation and coding process and, ultimately, optimizing health care services reimbursement.
Linking these two technologies will enable health care providers to develop more complete and accurate medical records, the company said.
“The concurrent coding and abstraction capabilities of Dolbey’s Fusion CAC application provide the first step in an efficient documentation improvement process,” said Mary Cooper, executive vice president for ChartWisein an Oct. 24 release. “By integrating their data into our system, the clinical documentation improvement specialists start with a baseline on which to build their documentation, reducing data entry. They can then focus on the missing documentation, ensuring a complete and accurate representation of the admission.”
Chris Casto, vice president for Dolbey, said that the union will augment his company’s computer-assisted coding application, which can only read and suggest codes from documentation that exists, while ChartWise 2.0 helps the user explore additional diagnostic scenarios and obtain the missing documentation to determine reimbursement for the care provided.
“Combining the expertise of ChartWise CDI with the natural language intelligence of our CAC solution is just plain smart business for health care,” said Casto.
