ChartWise partners with TrustHCS

WAKEFIELD – ChartWise Medical Systems Inc. has teamed up with Springfield, Mo.-based health care consulting firm TrustHCS to provide hospitals and providers with a comprehensive offering of ChartWise’s clinical documentation software and TrustHCS’ coding and training services.
By October 2014, hospitals in the United States are required to implement the revised ICD-10 medical classification and diagnosis coding system. TrustHCS helps to educate hospital staff on ICD-10 documentation guideline changes, and TrustHCS consultants audit and assess clinical documentation improvement programs and help implement best practices and procedures.
The ChartWise 2.0 computer-assisted clinical documentation software application offers tools to build an efficient and effective clinical documentation improvement program, using built-in functions to translate clinical terms, labs and medications into diagnostic terms for side-by-side ICD-9/ICD-10 dual coding and dual-query capabilities that eliminate duplicate data entry.
ChartWise’s software solution together with TrustHCS’s coding services, consulting and ICD-10 education will assist hospitals as they approach the October implementation deadline, the company said.
“At ChartWise we focus on our core strength, which is clinical documentation improvement, and seek like-minded partners such as TrustHCS to provide their core strength services and products in consulting and education,” said Chuck Corogenes, vice president of sales and marketing for ChartWise. “This ideology allows customers to pick and choose the components that specifically meet their needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach mandated by some other companies.”
Both ChartWise and TrustHCS utilize the TruCode ICD-10-CM encoder to ensure a consistent coding and documentation experience for providers. The encoder, built by Georgia-based software company TruCode, integrates into healthcare IT technologies including computer-assisted coding, clinical documentation improvement, electronic medical records, health information systems and health care business analytics.
“The alignment of a proven computer-assisted clinical documentation improvement solution like that offered from ChartWise with expertise to launch or improve the supporting clinical documentation improvement program structure and operation is hyper-critical in 2014,” said TrustHCS President Torrey Barnhouse. “As with electronic health-record implementation, the health care industry learned the importance of proper policy and procedure as well as staff to make any system succeed. This partnership shores up the experience needed as well as the solutions necessary to get our client’s clinical documentation improvement efforts operating appropriately for ICD-10.”
