Funding for child and family behavioral health services at The Providence Center has received a boost thanks to a donation of $12,080 from Chelo’s Restaurant Group.

Chelo’s raised the funds during its 25th annual golf classic, which was held at the Cranston Country Club in September.

More than 100 golfers participated in the shotgun-style tournament, which also included a raffle and a silent auction.

All of the event’s proceeds were donated to The Providence Center.

“Chelo’s generous donation will help ensure that The Providence Center is able to continue to meet the needs of children and adolescents who are experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges,” said Dale Klatzker, president and CEO of The Providence Center. “This gift is a testament to the Chelo family’s commitment to helping Rhode Islanders in need of behavioral health services.”

Founded in 1969, the center serves about 12,000 people each year.

“The Chelo family has always been committed to community service and helping those in need,” said restaurateur Craig Chelo.
