MIDDLETOWN – Child & Family and the Newport Playhouse will host a benefit for Child & Family’s Elder Services Program with a buffet dinner and performance of “Spreading It Around” on May 23, to kick off Memorial Day weekend, at the Newport Playhouse on Connell Highway in Newport.
The play is a comedy about a wealthy widow in a retirement community who decides to give her money to those in need instead of her “unappreciative children,” according to a press release.
Tickets are $60, available only in advance and by calling 401-848-4100 or visiting the Child & Family Community Center on John Clarke Road in Middletown.
Child & Family Elder Services program provides services focusing on assisting elders to maintain an independent lifestyle in the privacy and safety of their own homes. It is a division of Child & Family, a 146-year-old Rhode Island social services nonprofit.
The Newport Playhouse opened in 1983.
