MARTIN SINNOTT will replace Peter Dibari as president and CEO of Child & Family, a Middletown-based social service agency, effective this coming January. Sinnott, currently president and CEO of Houston-based nonprofit Amigos de Las Americas, has also served at One Hope United and The Youth Campus.
MIDDLETOWN – Martin Sinnott, the top executive at a Houston-based international nonprofit, has been chosen to lead Child & Family, a social service agency.
Sinnott, the president and CEO of Amigos de Las Americas, which has 25 chapters in the U.S. and projects in 10 Latin American companies, replaces Peter Dibari, who is retiring after being president and CEO of Child & Family for the past 35 years.
Sinnott will start in his new position in January.
Donald McCall, chairman of Child & Family’s Board of Directors, said the national search led to a unanimous choice in hiring Sinnott.
“Our search committee was struck by how his energy and commitment to building a strong community was so in line with what we have come to expect from Child & Family,” McCall said.
One of the largest social service providers in the state, Child & Family was established in downtown Newport and has a 146 year history of serving children and families in the local community.
Sinnott said he will build on the organization’s “rich history of innovation, partnerships with the public and nonprofit sectors, and community engagement.”
Sinnott’s career accomplishments include creating innovative programs, building organizational capacity, and influencing public policy. He served for 18 years as the CEO and president of One Hope United, a national human service organization, and The Youth Campus in Park Ridge, Ill. He also held senior administrative and direct service positions in the public child welfare sector for more than a decade.
He earned a bachelor of arts degree in religion and humanities in 1979 and a master of arts in social sciences in 1984, both from the University of Chicago.
He and his wife, Janet, have three adult children.
