Childhood Lead Action Project awards to honor lead poisoning prevention advocates

PROVIDENCE – The Childhood Lead Action Project will present its 2016 awards to seven recipients on Thursday, Nov. 17 during its 24th anniversary celebration.

Honorees include local and national lead poisoning prevention advocates and agencies:

  • Marc Edwards, Virginia Tech
  • Yanna Lambrinidou, Parents for Nontoxic Alternatives and Virginia Tech
  • Flint, Mich.-based Flint Rising
  • Rhode Island-based Friends for Flint
  • Rhode Island-based Hip Hop for Flint
  • Rhode Island state Rep. Eileen Naughton
  • NAACP Providence Branch Youth Council

Torey Malatia, president, CEO and general manager of Rhode Island Public Radio, will emcee the event, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. and run until 7:30 at the Rotunda at Café Nuovo at One Citizens Plaza. The celebration will include hors d’oeuvres, desserts, a cash bar and entertainment.
