More than 100 golfers recently took to the greens to support Providence Children’s Museum, which raised $32,500 to fund its hands-on exhibits and educational programs.
The museum’s 29th annual Allen H. Chatterton Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament honors the late Chatterton, an early supporter and board member of the museum. His son, Allen Chatterton III, chaired this year’s tournament, held at the Carnegie Abbey Club in Portsmouth for the 23rd year.
After golfing, participants enjoyed dinner and bid on items during a live auction, including a weekend getaway and rounds of golf at exclusive courses. The bids raised $5,400, and a raffle and additional contests brought in an additional $3,300.
“We are deeply grateful to Allen Chatterton, his committee and the tournament sponsors and participants for supporting Providence Children’s Museum and sharing our commitment to children most in need of positive, enriching learning experiences,” said Janice O’Donnell, museum executive director. •
