Children’s Friend puts focus on dads

PROVIDENCE – Children’s Friend, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of Rhode Island’s most vulnerable children, is expanding its “Dads Making a Difference” program to help dads be prepared for the job market and become more confident fathers and positive role models.
With the assistance of two federal grants, Children’s Friend now has the ability to help fathers with education, training and job placements over the next three years.
The program provides home visits and group services that give dads encouragement, guidance and education on childhood development, family-friendly routines and age-appropriate discipline, as well as ideas for fun ways to interact and play with their children.
On June 16, the day before Father’s Day, Children’s Friend will be celebrating the expansion of its Dads Make a Difference program at its annual 5K Run/Walk at Roger Williams Park Carousel Village in Providence.
