Children’s Museum exhibit set to open

PROVIDENCE – The Providence Children’s Museum’s Water Ways exhibit is getting a makeover in time for its opening on Nov. 8.
Water play will be provided in the forms of liquid, ice and mist, inviting open-ended exploration.
The exhibit will immerse museum visitors in interactive water play as by transforming the size and shape of billowing mist and water domes with rotating valves that regulate the rush of water and building mazes and damming water as it cascades downstream.
Other activities include connecting pipes to form fountains that funnel the flow of mist and water; sending boats, balls and other objects swirling and whirling through vortexes; scooping and sculpting ice; and “painting” watery designs on a large slate wall, and then watching as they slowly evaporate.
The opening celebration of the exhibit extends from Saturday, Nov. 8 through Sunday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Families also can join a series of programs exploring water on weekends in November and December.
The exhibit and activities are free with a $9 museum admission fee. For more information, visit www.ChildrenMuseum.org.
