COST: Free and open to the public

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Bryant University's award-winning dragon dance team will help welcome the Year of the Dragon at Bryant University's Chinese New Year celebration Saturday, Feb. 4, from 2-5.

The event also will include singers, dancers and martial artists from China University of Geosciences in Wuhan; pipa player Yang Wei, a member of the Silk Road Ensemble; and students from Bryant and area Confucius Classrooms. There will be complimentary Chinese food.

This free event, which annually attracts more than 700 people from northern Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts, will be held in the University's main gymnasium at the Chace Wellness Center.

Co-sponsors of the event are the U.S.-China Institute at Bryant, Startalk, Hanban's Confucius Classroom program, and the Newport Mansions/Preservation Society of Newport County.
