PROVIDENCE – RBS Citizens Financial Group Inc. was named a certified age-friendly employer by RetirementJobs.com, the company announced on Wednesday.

“RBS Citizens Financial Group has demonstrated an overwhelming commitment to the age 50 plus workforce,” Bill Coleman, vice president of research & certification at RetirementJobs.com said in prepared remarks.

“Not only does the organization exceed the standards for a Certified Age-Friendly Employer, their enthusiasm for the value that older workers bring to the Citizens family is noteworthy,” he added.

As an age-friendly employer, Citizens among a group that makes a special effort to improve the age diversity of their workforce by recruiting and retaining workers over the age of 50, according to a release.

“We recognize the unique value that workers over the age of 50 bring to the workforce and have made a commitment to recruiting this group to continue adding to the diversity of our teams,” said Cindy Erickson, Citizens Financial Group’s head of human resources.

Before receiving the RetirementJobs certification, companies must undergo rigorous evaluations including a review of human resources and management policies and a comparison with industry standard practices and policies.

Since the age-friendly certification began in 2006, nearly 100 employers have been certified by the website.
