PROVIDENCE – Citizens Bank has donated $10,000 to the Jonnycake Center in Peace Deale to provide assistance to families in need of food, clothing and household items, according to a press release from the bank.

The donation is also to assist the Jonnycake Center with continuing Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

One freezer in the center’s emergency food pantry was ruined during the October storm, and part of the donation will be used to replace the freezer so the center can continue to serve about 800 people each month.

The donation is part of Citizens Bank’s pledge, following Hurricane Sandy, to donate $100,000 to local nonprofits to help residents affected by the storm.
