Citizens upgrades in-person, mobile banking capabilities

PROVIDENCE – RBS Citizens Financial Group Inc. added a new round of “Bank Better” enhancements across multiple channels, including branches, ATMs and mobile devices, according to a March 11 announcement by the bank.
A new digital teller system has made “paperless banking” available to customers of Citizens Bank and Charter One branches using identity authentication by swiping debit cards and entering their PIN on a new device at every teller station. The digital teller systems will eliminate more than 72 million paper forms, or more than 150 tons of paper per year, according to the bank.
RBS Citizens also has replaced more than 1,600 ATMs with new machines that enable customers to extend the banking day for ATM deposits to 10 p.m. on business days.
The bank also launched a mobile banking app for iPad, in addition to existing apps for iPhone and Android. In another upgrade, the mobile apps for iPhone and Android offer Popmoney and other bill-paying services that were previously only available through online banking.
“Our customers told us they want to be able to bank when, where and how they want, said RBS Citizens Vice Chairman of Consumer Banking Brad Conner. “With these new platforms now in place and delivering for our customers, we look forward to being able to offer more convenience in the future as the technology continues to evolve.”
