City board revokes Level II’s licenses

PROVIDENCE – The city Board of Licenses last week voted to revoke the licenses of Level II nightclub following an incident in April that saw six people stabbed and seven people arrested, WPRO-AM 630 reported.
The board said that the nightclub, located in the city’s Knowledge District, presented a danger to public safety, WPRO said. A public hearing was held over 13 days with testimony coming from 22 people.
According to WPRO, a club employee described the night in question as a “riot.” A police officer testified that so many victims were brought to the emergency room at Rhode Island Hospital, it had to be locked down to prevent further violence.
The vote to revoke the club’s licenses was unanimous, and can be appealed to the R.I. Department of Business Regulation, although it is not clear whether the owners will pursue that route, WPRO said. &#8226
