City lawyer named Greater Providence YMCA interim CEO

PROVIDENCE – Providence lawyer Henry Kates is leading the YMCA of Greater Providence on an interim basis until a new CEO is hired.
Kates started the position on April 25, and is replacing Jim Berson, who left the CEO post on April 29 after serving since September 2012.
According to information from the YMCA, the board is in the midst of searching for a permanent replacement, a process expected to take between three and six months.
The YMCA of Greater Providence includes the following branches: Bayside, Cranston, the East Side, Kent County, Newman, South County and West Bay, as well as Camp Fuller and Providence YMCA Youth Services.
