Coakley seeks grantee for HomeCorps program

BOSTON – Attorney General Martha Coakley announced this month the open application period for the HomeCorps Assisting Homeowners at Risk of Foreclosure or Eviction Grant.
The program will use funds recovered through the nationwide state-federal settlement over unlawful foreclosures and will extend the work of Coakley’s HomeCorps program to mitigate the future impacts of the foreclosure crisis.
According to a news release, the HomeCorps Assisting Homeowners at Risk of Foreclosure or Eviction Grant will provide approximately $1.5 million for a qualified Massachusetts organization to serve as a Master Grantee to coordinate and oversee a statewide program working directly with families and individuals facing foreclosure and eviction. The program will combine loan-modification advocacy and borrower recovery/homelessness prevention services.
Applicants should propose a plan to provide homelessness-prevention services statewide via a sub-grantee network of full-time equivalent housing counselors.
Interested applicants can visit the attorney general’s website, www.mass.gov/ago/grants, for additional information about the application process and to download application materials. •
