Coast to Coast Fulfillment expanding to California

(Updated 2:07 p.m.)
WEST GREENWICH – Coast to Coast Fulfillment Inc. plans to open a second warehouse and distribution center in Sante Fe Springs, Calif., on Thursday.

Coast to Coast Fulfillment, a 22-year-old business, bills itself as one of the state’s largest parcel and mail shippers.

According to a company news release, the expansion to Los Angeles County marks a $1.5 million investment.

Coast to Coast Fulfillment said the new 18,000-square-foot facility will supplement its 80,000-square-foot center in West Greenwich by turning around inbound ocean freight shipments from Asia more quickly.
“We have always been able to deliver goods for customers across the U.S.A., but this is the first time since the business was started in 1994 that we have the ability to rapidly turn around goods from Asia in a dedicated West Coast facility,” Jeff Wyant, Coast to Coast co-founder and director, said in a statement.
“The time was right. In addition to rapid order turnaround, the California warehouse is also closer to our clients’ West Coast customers,” he added.

Coast to Coast President Hermond Ghazarian noted the proximity of ports in Long Beach and Los Angeles that will help the company break down sea-freight containers, providing a “low-cost alternative to our East Coast fulfillment of goods sent in by airfreight.”

Coast to Coast ships fashion jewelry and accessories, cosmetics, vitamins, food supplements, board games, housewares, apparel, housewares and electronics.

The company has expertise in electronic data interchange fulfillment to major retailers across the country as well as its own U.S Post Office within its Rhode Island facility.

“We have focused on our niche providing a high-quality, fast service to clients who have big retail customers, but we also act as a warehouse and fulfillment provider for B2C e-commerce and direct-response television customers, many of whom have used us for many years,” Wyant said.
Coast to Coast has a workforce that can rise to more than 100 in multiple shifts. Its more than 30 clients range from businesses selling presidential political campaign gear and fashion accessories, to toys and health and beauty products, according to the company.

The business also has customers from overseas, with European, Chinese and Australian firms using its facility as their U.S. warehouse and customer-service base.

The California expansion created four more jobs in Rhode Island, and is expected to create up to 20 to 30 more jobs long-term. Approximately 70 are employed in Rhode Island now. Ten workers will staff the California facility. In two years, the number of employees in California could reach 30, a spokesman said.
