College Crusade of R.I. receives $5K grant from Taco/The White Family Foundation

CRANSTON – The College Crusade of Rhode Island’s Cranston-based college readiness program will benefit from a $5,000 grant during the 2016-17 school year thanks to a donation made in that amount by Taco/The White Family Foundation.

Presented at the organization’s annual Believe Breakfast on Nov. 17, this grant will help fund further programs and services aimed at boosting the college readiness of middle schoolers and high school students in Cranston. Participants will receive personally-tailored advising and after-school learning opportunities geared toward financial literacy, STEM activities and life skills, among other subjects.

The mission of the College Crusade is to increase high school graduation, college and career readiness, and college completion for youth in Rhode Island’s low-income communities. The College Crusade supports approximately 4,500 students in middle school, high school and college each year. The organization enrolls sixth- and seventh-graders who attend public schools and public charter schools in Providence, Cranston, Pawtucket, Central Falls and Woonsocket.
