College Scorecard: Bryant tops in region for earnings after attending

PROVIDENCE – Bryant University offers the most bang for your buck when it comes to earnings after attending for Rhode Island institutions of higher learning, according to the U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard.
The median salary of Bryant graduates a decade after enrolling in the school was $61,900, according to data gathered by the Education Department on former students who received federal financial aid. Bryant’s median bested Ivy League Brown University’s $59,700 and Providence College’s $59,600.
Eighty-eight percent of the Bryant attendees measured earn more than those with only a high school diploma. In comparison, 76 percent of former Brown students earn more than those who only completed high school.
The website, which allows users to look up data on colleges and universities around the country, ranked the 11 institutions of higher learning in Rhode Island on such things as salary after attending, graduation rate and average annual cost.
Brown, with 6,182 undergraduates, had the highest graduation rate at 95 percent (calculated only for full-time students enrolled for the first time). Rhode Island School of Design, with 2,005 undergraduates, had the next highest rate at 87 percent. Providence College’s rate was 86 percent.
RISD had the highest average annual cost at $40,306, followed by Providence College at $34,841 and Roger Williams University in Bristol at $33,838. The cost was based on the net cost for federal aid recipients net of institutional, state and federal aid.
College Scorecard also features information about financial aid, and lists schools with low costs that lead to high incomes.
It states that college graduates on average earn $1 million more over their lifetimes than high school graduates.
