Community Prep to kick off campaign

PROVIDENCE – Community Preparatory School will hold a kick-off celebration for its REACH! campaign on April 6 from 6-8 p.m. at Public Kitchen & Bar, 120 Francis St. in the Renaissance Providence Hotel. The REACH! campaign stands for the independent school’s goals of renew, expand, achieve and challenge.
Founded in 1984, the school aims to give minority and low-income students in grades three through eight a foundation to succeed in college-preparatory high school programs and to become community leaders. According to its website, 97 percent of Community Prep graduates have been accepted into college-preparatory high school programs (717 graduates to date).
Eighty percent of the school’s operating budget is funded through donations, with tuition covering 20 percent, according to the website.
