Community, business leaders raise $100K for children’s fund

Children’s Friend recently welcomed first lady Stephanie Chafee, U.S. Rep. David N. Cicilline and Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, as well as corporate and advocacy leaders for the ninth annual Investing in Our Children Luncheon. The event, which included a silent auction and raffle, raised roughly $100,000 for Children’s Friend’s programs for child welfare and development, family support and mental health. In addition, The Washington Trust Co. was presented with the 2011 Friend of Children Award. More
