Company prospers by linking experts to jobs

Delphi-US LLC has had little time for growing pains.
The talent-management company, which specializes in filling technology and engineering jobs here and across the United States, was founded in May 2010. Since then, it has enjoyed a fast, organic and debt-free growth process, said Greg Demos, one of three partners in the company.
What started out as a “bootstrap operation” in a “closet office” with Demos and one other partner is now a significant contributor to the Rhode Island economy. It has nine employees at a home office in Newport; it brings in revenue and pays taxes on about 50 more employees nationwide.
The nationwide growth didn’t require building brick-and-mortar establishments. Rather, the company used available technology to bolster its national business model, serving clients across the country.
Demos said that having a strong base in the organization’s home state was important. “We participate in community business events, chamber events, [events for networking] and try to stay connected to the community,” Demos said.
That kind of networking has brought Delphi-US significant growth. Demos said that the company has grown by 30 percent to 45 percent annually on its top line. It is looking to increase its hiring in 2014, growing internally by 40 percent and surpassing 65 employees nationwide by year’s end.
“[Our ability to grow] really comes down to the quality of our clients and their appetite to work with us. Beyond that, it’s really the quality of the people we’ve brought into the organization,” Demos said. •
