Competition, CIE to host business-plan workshop

Posted 2/7/12

PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Business Plan Competition along with the Rhode Island Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship is holding a free business-plan writing workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 15.

The event will be held 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at RI-CIE at One Davol Square, Providence, and will be followed by a networking reception with refreshments.

Since a written plan will help potential businesses attract investors, partners and employees, understanding what to include, and what to avoid provides a distinct advantage.

George Simmons, of Derby Management Consultants in Boston, who has more than 20 years of business fundraising and executive operations experience with public and private companies, will lead the workshop, which is open to everyone, whether or not they have decided to apply to the competition.

The Rhode Island Business Plan Competition is supported by a broad range of established and emerging businesses, nonprofits, colleges and universities, and public agencies.
