Saturday, learn about eating local in the traditional sense during a Historic Foodways and Hearth Cooking Workshop at Coggeshall Farm Museum. Participants will use the first American cookbook, Amelia Simmons’ American Cookery (originally published in 1796) to prepare several dishes using meat and produce raised on the farm. After the work is done, participants will enjoy dinner by candlelight at the farms’ parlor table, which will be set in the fashion of 18th century New England.
