PAWTUCKET- Flexible composites manufacturer The Cooley Group announced two senior-level promotions on Wednesday.

David Pettey will serve as chief operating officer and Naresh Mehta will take on the role of director of research and new product development.

“Both Mr. Pettey and Mr. Mehta are experts in their respective fields,” said CEO Dan Dwight. “Their breadth and depth of industry experience and leadership in operations and new product development will help us tremendously as we continue to develop the quality, sustainability and availability of Cooley’s market-leading, proven solutions for our global customer base.”

Pettey joined Cooley in 2006. Prior to that he served in executive roles for International Paper, Burlington Industries and Quaker Fabric Corp.

Before the promotion, Pettey was the vice president of operations and development, and Mehta was the technical manager.

Some of Cooley’s most notable recent projects include partnering with Dow Chemical Company to develop and manufacture a sustainable fabric that will be used to wrap London’s Olympic Stadium for the 2012 Olympic Games. It also manufactured a fabric used to contain the 2010 Gulf Oil spill.
