PROVIDENCE – Coutu Bros. Moving & Storage, a local and long-distance moving company based in Warwick, has opened an 8,000-square-foot storage facility and expanded its services to include moves on the entire East Coast.
The company, which recently moved its headquarters to 2 Greco Lane in Warwick, says it is the only family-owned, independent moving company in Rhode Island to offer storage.
The new facility, opened in June at its Warwick location, offers fire and smoke alarms, motion detectors, 24-hour video surveillance, climate control and storage vaults for clients. Residential and commercial customers can store items for as short as overnight up to as long as they need.
Since the launch of the facility, about two dozen customers have availed themselves of the storage service, according to Robert Romano, president and CEO of Coutu Bros.
Coutu Bros. also added a new truck to its fleet to facilitate long-distance moves, bringing its total to four trucks. The company prides itself on personalized service, noting that it is not a franchise or agent for any national moving company.
“We have our trucks, our own crew; we don’t sub it out,” said Romano. In addition, every customer is assigned a personal moving consultant, who helps walk the client through the transit process and has direct contact with the driver, Romano said.
