Cox launches personalized TV service

WEST WARWICK – Cox Communications has introduced a TV service that makes personalized recommendations and can record up to six shows at once on DVR, the company announced.
The service, called Contour, connects the viewer’s iPad and TV to make browsing show and movie options and scheduling DVR recordings easier. It can also store profiles of up to eight users, learning the preferences of each and making separate recommendations tailored to each user’s taste.
“Contour brings to life all the features our customers tell us they want, from individual viewing recommendations based on their past preferences to a robust library of c offerings and enhanced DVR capabilities – all accessible on multiple devices via an effortless guide,” said Doreen Studley, vice president of marketing, Cox Communications Northeast region, in a statement.
Cox developed Contour based in part on a recent customer survey that showed Cox video customers spend almost 60 percent of their viewing time on “convenience” television – On Demand or DVR recordings – rather than live TV.
