Cox technicians visit ‘Rosie’s Girls’ summer camp to discuss STEM careers

PROVIDENCE – Cox Communications field technicians Kathy Smith and Wendy Moreau visited “Rosie’s Girls” YWCA of Rhode Island summer camp at Nickerson Community Center to talk about careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
To help inspire an interest in telecommunication careers, Smith and Moreau showed off their technician equipment, technology and bucket trucks during their visit with the campers.
“Rosie’s Girls helps girls develop grit, connection and expanded possibilities as they explore hands-on STEM and trades-related activities. It’s a camp where girls can get their hands dirty, take positive risks and try something new,” Deborah L. Perry, president and CEO, YWCA of Rhode Island, said in prepared remarks. “And it’s important for girls to see women in action in nontraditional roles, women like those employed by Cox, who are installing products, driving trucks and offering tech solutions. The women of Cox help girls imagine things they may have never imagined in a world full of possibilities.”
Rosie’s Girls summer camp is open to girls entering sixth, seventh and eighth grade.
