Cranston library offers Internet safety, privacy class

CRANSTON – In conjunction with Broadband RI, the Cranston Public Library is offering two classes focusing on Internet safety and privacy.

The classes – which are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 8 from 9 to 11 a.m. and Tuesday, Feb. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. – will help teach attendees how best to avoid viruses, identify spam and protect their privacy and safety online.

According to a library release, the class is geared towards those with basic computer skills and familiarity with the Internet and will introduce participants to common types of threats they may encounter online.

These classes are free and open to the public. Interested parties should call 401-943-9080 ext 6 or e-mail tech@cranstonlibrary.org to register.

The classes will be held at the Central Library branch at 140 Sockanosset Cross Rd.
