Credit Union Association names scholarship winner

HOPKINTON – John Marsella of Hopkinton was recently awarded a scholarship by the Credit Union Association of Rhode Island. John who was sponsored by the Westerly Community Credit Union in Westerly, was selected from hundreds of applicants submitted to credit unions from throughout Rhode Island.

Applications were evaluated on a variety of criteria including the community involvement, extracurricular activities, and the quality and content of an essay that addressed the applicant’s intended major field of study and career goals.

John, who will be attending the University of Virginia as a pre-med student in the fall, has a high academic achievement and commitment to the community.
