UNCASVILLE, Conn. – More than 200 credit union executives gathered last month to mark the first of what’s expected to become an annual Cooperative Credit Union Association convention.
The gathering was held in Uncasville, Conn., and it comprised an overview of the 2014 year-end report, a speech from association president and CEO Paul Gentile and reports from each state’s social responsibility program, according to a press release.
The association also announced its board of directors. Representing Rhode Island is Ellen N. Ford, president of Middletown-based People’s Credit Union, and David B. Suvall, president of Rhode Island Credit Union.
John B. “Bernie” Winne, of Boston Firefighters Credit Union, was elected chairman, and Ford will serve as vice chairman, according to the release.
The Cooperative Credit Union Association formed last October when the Credit Union Association of Rhode Island consolidated with the Massachusetts Credit Union League and the New Hampshire Credit Union League. It was the eighth credit union league consolidation since 2007, according to the Credit Union Times. It has more than 180 member credit union throughout the three states.
