CurrentCare targeting veterans for sign-ups

PROVIDENCE – Collaboration between the Rhode Island Quality Institute and the Providence Veterans Affairs Medical Center is for the first time giving VA providers in the state access to patient-care information from outside of the VA network.
The improved access comes via CurrentCare, the statewide health-information exchange run by the institute.
Veterans can enroll in CurrentCare online or through any one of more than 400 enrollment partners statewide.
There are approximately 75,000 veterans currently living in Rhode Island. The Providence VA serves 35,000 unique patients a year and handles more than 405,000 visits.
The collaboration is supported, in part, through a $60,000 grant from the Rhode Island Foundation. •
