CRANSTON – R.I. Department of Corrections Director Ashbel T. Wall II has announced the appointment of Roy Wells of Warwick as inspector. He assumes the role on July 23.

According to a news release, Wells has been a member of the Providence Police Department for 25 years, the last eight as a detective in the agency’s Internal Affairs Unit. He has participated in a number of specialized training opportunities and has particular expertise in video forensics and computer examinations. He holds a B.S. in criminal justice from Roger Williams University.

“Senior members of the Providence Police Department, individuals with whom I have worked closely over the years and whose judgment I respect, give Roy the highest recommendation, not only for his investigative and excellent interpersonal skills, but also for his character and integrity,” Wall said in a statement. •
