DOT lot sells for $2.1M

NORTH KINGSTOWN – The high bidder for a former R.I. Department of Transportation park-and-ride lot was Tracy J. Roll of TMC New England LLC, according to a state spokeswoman.
The high bid was $2.1 million, which exceeded the state’s appraisal for the site by $200,000, according to spokeswoman Lisbeth Pettengill.
Twenty-one participants registered for the auction on-site, and four submitted bids.
A purchase and sale agreement has been sent to TMC New England, and the state anticipates the sale will be completed, Pettengill said.
The property, at Route 2 and Route 102, was being sold to generate funds for DOT purposes including transit improvements.
