Davies recognized as ‘blue-ribbon school’

LINCOLN – The William M. Davies, Jr. Career & Technical High School has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a 2013 “National Blue Ribbon School.”
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students’ level of achievement as measured by state assessments.
In partnership with teachers, parents and staff, Davies has worked diligently at improving students’ achievement by improving classroom instruction and expanding the curriculum, providing rigorous professional development, using data-based decision-making to assess student achievement gaps and assisting students to meet rigorous outcomes, said Victoria Gailliard-Garrick, director/principal.
Davies students not only are able to improve their academic levels in the core subject areas, they are able to achieve industry-based certifications and advanced college credit with the help of the business community and institutions of higher education. •
