PROVIDENCE – The Friday, Nov. 30, deadline is looming for Rhode Island Business Plan Competition’s seventh annual Rhode Island Elevator Pitch Contest.
Both aspiring and established entrepreneurs will present their business ideas to a panel of judges in just 90 seconds – short enough to fit in an elevator ride – to vie for $1,000 in cash prizes.
“The Elevator Pitch Contest provides a great opportunity to practice a pitch and get immediate feedback from people who know what it takes to build a business,” competition Co-chair Larry Davidson, principal with the Providence-based accounting firm of Kahn Litwin Renza & Co. Ltd., said in a Nov. 13 statement announcing the competition.
The free event, which is open to the public, will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Harborside Academic Center on the Johnson & Wales University Harborside campus in Providence on Wednesday, Dec. 5.
Entrepreneurs will present a 90-second pitch to judges and receive immediate feedback about the “clarity and persuasiveness” of the presentation. Cash prizes totaling $1,000 will be awarded to the best presenters at the end of the event.
Anyone interested in participating must register at www.ri-bizplan.com before the 5 p.m. deadline on Friday, Nov. 30. People who want to attend the event but not participate may pre-register on the same site.
