Delta Dental of Rhode Island recently donated $60,000 to support the 2014 Rhode Island Mission of Mercy, a free dental clinic now in its third year. The grant was made through Delta Dental’s charitable endowment, the Delta Dental of Rhode Island Fund.

The clinic is scheduled for May 31 and June 1 at Community College of Rhode Island’s Lincoln campus. Volunteer dental and medical professionals will come together with community members to treat adults and children who do not have dental insurance and cannot afford to pay for common procedures like cleanings, fillings and tooth extractions.

“Delta Dental of Rhode Island is proud to once again support the Rhode Island Mission of Mercy free dental clinic,” said President and CEO Joseph A. Nagle. “Each year, the clinic is able to make dramatic changes in the lives of people who can’t afford dental treatment. It is truly inspiring to see this operation in action.”

Last year, clinic volunteers served more than 925 patients who received 3,845 dental procedures. •
