Delta Dental supports Thundermist veteran dental care at Operation Stand Down Weekend

PROVIDENCE – Delta Dental of Rhode Island has donated $12,000 to Thundermist Health Center to sponsor its dental services tent for veterans this weekend during Operation Stand Down Weekend.
Operation Stand Down Weekend is an annual event intended to help homeless and low-income Rhode Island veterans. Thundermist will operate the dental health care tent from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
“It’s a privilege to sponsor Thundermist Health Center’s annual effort to serve those who have served our country,” said Joseph A. Nagle, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Rhode Island. “There are many Rhode Islanders who do not receive critical oral health care, and this is an important part of ensuring the overall health and well-being of Rhode Island’s veterans.”
Several Delta Dental employees also will be volunteering at the event, Nagle said.
The donation, which was made through the Delta Dental of Rhode Island Fund at the Rhode Island Foundation, will support no-cost dental care for veterans. On-site services will include cleanings, X-rays and exams. Any veteran who needs more comprehensive dental treatment will be scheduled for an appointment at a Thundermist dental office.
Operation Stand Down Weekend is being held at Diamond Hill State Park, Route 114, in Cumberland.
