SMITHFIELD – The Office of Educator Quality and Certification at the R.I. Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has approved Bryant University’s Master of Arts in Teaching secondary education certification.
The approval, granted earlier this month, was announced Thursday by Bryant University.
R.I. Department of Education approval allows Bryant’s MAT students to apply for secondary education subject area certifications to teach English, social studies, biology, general science, mathematics, business education, Chinese, Spanish and French in Rhode Island after completing the program.
The Bryant MAT and secondary education certificate program is a 30-credit hour graduate program where candidates take 21 credit hours in education and 9 credit hours in their subject area.
Included in the graduate education course are 60 hours of field experience in area public schools as well as a 12-week student teaching practicum.
