Why did you select your profession?
I wanted to be challenged every day and to be able to make scientific contributions in my field. … The greatest reward is feeling that in some small ways I positively impact the lives of my patients.
Where do you see yourself professionally in 10 years?
I hope to be an established physician-scientist, with continued grant support and a productive research program.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever been given?
You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.
What advice would you give your 22-year-old self?
It will all be OK!
How do you keep a work-life balance?
I have fantastic colleagues and we cover for each other. Staying well-balanced is a priority and in the end makes me a better physician.
What one thing in your professional life would you like a do-over on?
To count to 10 before saying what’s on my mind. •
