Why did you select your profession? It was a life-changing event for me when I received my first pair of eyeglasses, then again with contact lenses. After seeing the improvements in my vision, I wanted to have that kind of impact on people’s lives.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received? Intently listen to your patients and always treat the person rather than the disease.

What advice would you give your 22-year-old self? When you’re busy, it’s easy to fall into a daily routine and lose sight of the big picture. Set long-term goals, track your progression, and revise as needed.

What is your favorite Rhode Island escape or hobby? I have fond childhood memories of Colt State Park. My grandparents would bring me there to go fishing, and I now enjoy taking my family there for a picnic or walk along the shoreline. •
