CO-DIRECTOR, GERIATRIC FRACTURE PROGRAM – Rhode Island Hospital; ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MEDICINE – Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University; MEDICAL DIRECTOR, TRANSITIONAL CARE UNIT – Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center
AGE: 34

Why did you select your profession?
Growing up, I idolized my eldest sister who was a medical student. Her long, white coat and the thick medical books fascinated me.

Where do you see yourself professionally in 10 years?
I see myself as a nationally known leader in the care of elderly orthopedic trauma patients. I want to take my career to the next level by educating the general public and increase awareness nationally about this patient population.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received?
Opportunities don’t knock twice, so think a hundred times before saying “no.”

What is your favorite Rhode Island escape or hobby?
I love the ocean and my favorite getaway is either the Newport Beach or the East Bay Bike Path.

How do you keep a work-life balance?
My husband and I did a three-year long-distance relationship so we could both focus on our career development. Now that we are finally together, we make an effort to share at least one meal a day to connect with each other, and share our day’s stories.
