DreamNight benefits Hasbro patients

Children receiving treatment at Hasbro Children’s Hospital’s neurodevelopment center were recently able to enjoy the zoo after hours and without accessibility concerns.

During the hospital’s eighth annual “Dream Night at the Zoo” event, children with special health care needs, such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida and development conditions were invited to visit the zoo with their families free of charge, without worrying about social stigmas or admission costs.

All admission, operating costs, and entertainment were donated by the Rhode Island Hospital Guild, Roger Williams Park Zoo, the Rhode Island Zoological Society, Hasbro Children’s Hospital and other partner organizations.

Throughout the evening, children were treated to special activities and presentations including animal interviews, zookeeper talks, demonstrations, face painting, live music, a buffet and more.

“We are so appreciative of the zoo’s commitment to this event, so our patients and families can simply relax and have fun,” said Maura Taylor, program administrator for the Hasbro’s Children’s Neurodevelopment Center.
