Drizly announces $13M in funding

BOSTON – Drizly, the creator of a mobile app that allows users to order alcohol to be delivered from liquor stores, announced a $13 million Series A funding round, Boston Business Journal reported last week.

According to the newspaper’s website, investors in the round include Washington, D.C.,-based Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America, Polaris Partners, First Beverage Group and Suffolk Equity Partners.

Total funding to date for the company is now $17.8 million.

The paper said Drizly is on a “major growth spree” and will use the funding to continue expanding and investing in product development, sales and marketing, and operations and global distribution.

In Rhode Island, the Boston-based company uncorked its service in parts of Providence and East Providence in March, and representatives of the technology company and the liquor store say business has been steadily growing.

Providence marks the company’s 13th market.

Locally, Drizly is operated by Bottles, a liquor store in Providence. The store delivers in a 9-mile area around its East Side location. •
