Dunkin’ Donuts and its Rhode Island franchisees received the What’s Right About Rhode Island award by the Pawtucket Red Sox and Bryant University during a recent ceremony at McCoy Stadium.
The award recognizes both for-profit and nonprofit organizations, whose generous contributions of time or funding demonstrates an inspirational example of why Rhode Island is a great place to live and work, according to a release.
In 2013, Dunkin’ Donuts donated nearly $1 million to local organizations, including Hasbro Children’s Hospital, the Rhode Island Blood Center and Special Olympics Rhode Island. This is also the 19th consecutive year that they donated $100,000 in scholarships for local college-bound students.
Dunkin’ Donuts has been partners with the Pawtucket Red Sox for more than 30 years, according to Mike Tamburro, Pawtucket Red Sox president.
The 64-year-old national franchise employs more than 10,000 local residents in the nearly 300 restaurants owned and operated in Rhode Island and Bristol County. •
